Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 1, [current_year]
Who We Are
This site is run by Tim Woodring.
You’re at: https://timwoodring.com.
Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect what you enter in the form, along with your IP address and browser info. Mostly, this is to keep the bots and nonsense out.
If you use Gravatar, an anonymized version of your email (a hash) may be sent to their service to pull in your profile image. You can check their privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Once your comment is approved, your profile photo (if you have one) may show up publicly next to it.
Media
If you upload images, avoid including location data (EXIF GPS).
Otherwise, someone out there with too much time on their hands could pull that data from the file.
Cookies
We use cookies, but not in a creepy way — just to make the site work better.
-
If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and website so you don’t have to retype them next time. Those stick around for a year.
-
If you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to see if your browser accepts cookies. It disappears when you close your browser.
-
When you log in, we store login details and screen preferences. Login cookies last two days; screen preferences last a year. “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for two weeks.
-
If you edit or publish something, a cookie is saved that just tracks the post ID. It expires after a day.
Embedded Content
Some posts may include content from other sites (videos, images, articles, etc.).
If you interact with that content, it’s basically the same as visiting that site directly—meaning they may collect data, use cookies, and track engagement on their end.
Who We Share Your Data With
Short version: we’re not in the business of selling your data.
If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the email for security purposes.
How Long We Keep Your Data
Comments and their metadata stick around indefinitely. That helps us recognize repeat commenters and keep things flowing without unnecessary moderation.
If you create an account (if that’s ever a thing here), your profile info is stored. You can edit or delete it anytime (except your username). Admins can also access it if needed.
Your Rights
You can request:
-
A copy of the personal data we have about you
-
That we delete your data
The only exception is anything we’re required to keep for legal, administrative, or security reasons.
To make a request: info@timwoodring.com
Where Your Data Goes
Comments may be run through automated spam detection tools—again, mostly to keep things sane.
Updates
We may update this policy from time to time. If we do, we’ll update the date at the top. No surprises, no sneaky changes.
